they speak of her beauty and her devotion.
The poems to her have romantic imagery,
But they don't get down to the nitty-grtty.
Did she mend his socks? Did she put up
with his tantrums? Did she makes copies
of his poems? Rub balm on his sore neck?
These are important questions for today's poets
As they set about to choose a life's companion.
